Company Introduction

The name Greiner is traditionally and early associated with glass producing history and sources to glass manufacturers in 14th or 15th century. Hans Greiner, grandson of the well-known gaffer master Peter Greiner born 1415, emigrated to Thueringen and founded the Glashuette Langenbach there. Whose great grandson has built the glassworks Lauscha and established this world-famous place Lauscha (Christmas tree decorations).

F. F. Greiner (*1808 +1855) of Stuetzerbach (Thueringen) developed 1831 the first industrially produced thermometer and had designed already 64 types hydrometers and thermometers as well as more physical measuring instruments and built up the booming thermometer industry in the Thueringer forest. The secrets of glass manufactoring are devolved traditionelly from father to son therefore the family lasted over centuries connected with this business. Justus Liebig, founder of the actual chemistry and many more famous names are counted among clients of the Greiners. Moreover Greiners were leading involved to following fabrications:
1883 Creation of the first filament lamp in Germany
1885 Establishing of the first thermos container
1886 Creation of the first x-ray tube as well as many more developments and inventions

The above mentioned historical beginnings through the glassblower F. F. Greiner are continued over the company Ephraim Greiner Stuetzerbach Goethehaus to the founder of our company

August Greiner.

He founded the company 1884 in Stuetzerbach. Because of the disastrous division of Germany we decided to rebuild the enterprise in the year 1956 in Lemgo (West-Germany).
Thus it exists a close connection between
Our family name GREINER
The material we work with GLASS
To produce our INSTRUMENTS

Rightfully and proudly we can say our future emerges of our tradition. Till today many famous world wide well known companies, laboratories, hydrometers and thermometer producers count to our satisfied clients.
