Hommel Pharmas origins can be traced back to a company called Hommel AG, founded in 1890 by Dr. A. Hommel. The companys business was, from the outset, the manufacture and marketing of medicines for human use. In the 1980s, the company withdraw from the manufacture of its own medicines and dedicated itself exclusively to the marketing of medicines produced by experienced contract manufacturers. Despite many changes of ownership and location over its more than 100 year history, the company, now trading under the name of Hommel Pharma, still markets medicines and highest quality skin care products for human use. The company was reorganised as a result of a change of ownership and management in 2002 and is now located in Luedinghausen-Germany. The result of this is that alongside the continued active marketing of the existing portfolio of medicines on a national and international level, a restructuring and expansion of the product portfolio has been undertaken.
