INTRODUCTION.Vanuatu Virgin Coconut Oil Ltd is based on Santo Island, Vanuatu (South Pacific). The companies founding directors were responsible for the invention and development of a coconut meat extraction machine. This machinery has enabled us to manufacture large volumes of virgin coconut oil at a commercial level for the first time anywhere in the world with a capacity exceeding 160 tons per month. The process is fully automated with no handling of the material at any time, with oil extracted within one hour. The quick processing time and elimination of any handling of the meat prior to expelling oil insures that we have a clean bacteria free end product with every batch manufactured. VVCOL also produce five quality products being, coconut flour, organic fertilizer, coco- peat growing medium and carbon in volume. The saw dust from the meat extractor which consists of, coconut water, 5mm coconut meat, 5mm of husk, shell and whole navara will be fed to pigs (or made into Methanol and Ethanol). The waste from the pigs will be fed to fresh water prawns. All are by-products from coconuts.Extraction Process Vanuatu Virgin Coconut Oil is made with the strict controls in place to insure that we manufacture a fresh quality product with every batch produced. Our product is organic, pure and totally free of any additives or chemicals.Whole coconuts are loaded into our high pressure steam cleaning unit in batches of 3600 coconuts. The unit is then sealed and the whole coconuts which include the outer husks are steamed for a short period. This process is done to eliminate bacteria and any organisms which might be present in the outer husk. This important process insures that we are eliminating the chance for contamination of our oil. The coconuts then enter the meat extraction unit (Patented). Once inside the unit the coconuts are split and the meat is extracted in whole half pieces. The coconut empty husks go up the long conveyor to the left-hand side of the photo where they are decimated and the residual sent to pits to make organic fertilizer. The fresh white coconut meat goes in a conveyor to a stainless steel auger on the right of the photo. From here our coconut meat begins its journey on food grade stainless steel conveyors to be desiccated. DESICCATED CUTTERS. The desiccated cutters can shred the fresh coconut meat to the desired size that is required for both the fluid-bed drier and the expellers. FLUID-BED DRIER.The desiccated fresh meat is then dried in an enclosed controlled environment, where we can monitor and control moisture content. This Fluid- bed Drier keeps the material in suspension at a forward motion without over heating the desiccated coconut meat before going to the expellers. Once dried to the required moisture content the dried desiccated coconut meat is fed via stainless steel enclosed conveyors, into the Expellers which expel the Virgin coconut oil at low temperature. The expellers are internally water cooled and monitored to insure that heat is at a minimum at all times. EXPELLERS. This is two shuts for the coconut flour.The oil then goes through six separate filtration processes to insure that the oil is filtered properly.
