I began my own sign business 10 years ago and innumerable commercial signs with lightings have been made and installed by my company. In the past, we usually use fluorescent or neon tube as the light source for the commercial signs. However, there are many limitations with these conventional light sources. For example, the manufacturing process of signs using neon lights is very labor intensive. Furthermore, there is always safety risk due to high voltage electricity and the possibility of breakage during the installation process. If a neon tube breaks during the installation, the whole project would be delayed. More importantly, these light sources are not energy efficient, thus a heavy burden for the customers because of the ever-increasing energy cost. Another significant limitation with the conventional light sources is their short life spans. Therefore the whole sign industry is seeking a new light source that is energy effective, safe and easy to install, and with a longer life span. When Japanese company &＃039;NiChia&＃039; has successfully developed a blue LED chip in 1993, the lighting industry began to see hope. It was boldly predicted that LED would be the third revolution of the lighting industry. Today the prediction has been rapidly fulfilled. More and more civil or industrial lighting products are using LED as the light source now. It has been several years when the sign business has a new choice, that is, LED light modules. When the LED light module was first introduced to the sign industry, it was not widely used because of its relatively high costs. However, with the increase of production and improvement of manufacturing process, the cost bottleneck has been broken and LED light is irreversibly replacing the conventional light as the main lighting source for commercial signs.
