Procomp Informatics Ltd. was founded in 1991 with a capital of 5 million NT dollars and four employees. Currently Procomp Group employs about 900 people worldwide and has subsidiries in Taiwan, Japan, China and the United States with a capital about $200 Million ($US) in 2002.

During the initial phases of the foundation, Procomp invested in the development, production and marketing of multi-media adapters, sound cards and motherboards. Foreseeing the extensive market demand of microwave communications, Procomp founded compound semiconductors business in 1996 as Taiwan's first GaAs Epi Wafer manufacturer. The development of this technology is executed by Dr. Clark Peng and is supported by Mitsubishi of Japan. Procomp is also the sole overseas partner of Sumimoto Electric Industries Ltd of Japan, in the field of compound semiconductors. Anticipating that the IA market would soar after two years, Procomp has been investing in the development and production of IEEE 1394, handheld devices and other information products since 1998. To meet the increasing demand for capacity, Procomp built a factory of over 16,500 square meters in that same year to increase its capacity by 1.5 times.
