Bio-industry firm OTIS Biotech was founded in September 2000 based on love and hope for humanity. As a company specializing in researching on and developing operational tools and neurosurgery and orthopedic equipment, we have been conducting research and development in cooperation with companies' research institutes and university hospitals to grow into a world renowned artificial joint manufacturing company. With a number of patents and utility patent rights in its possession, OTIS Biotech has successfully completed research and development related to spinal aids such as spine support screws and cages and artificial coxae for the first time in Korea; it is now trying to commercialize them. We have been selected as a promising small and medium company, having acquired CE as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certificates. In addition, by acquiring factory certification from FDA, OTIS Biotech has grown into a company specializing in medical equipment parts. Instead of resting on its laurels, OTIS Biotech shall do its best with a consistently never-say-die attitude.

Korea has recently joined the ranks of advanced countries with aging population. Thus, the number of patients suffering from difficulties in walking due to chronic spinal diseases and degenerative arthritis is sharply increasing. Given such increase in the aging population, tens of millions of operations using artificial joints or spine support screws to relieve the pain and recover the damaged functions due to the failure of spines, coxae, and knee joints have been performed every year using expensive imported artificial joints. Although those imported joints are made based on the figures of westerners, and they consequently do not fit Koreans and Asians, producing them in Korea has been difficult to date since it involves cutting-edge research, medical expertise, complexity, and precision of production technologies. Against this backdrop, we have been importing all products from the USA and European countries. OTIS Biotech succeeded in producing the implants to be inserted into human bodies by combining ultraprecision technologies and the most advanced clinical medicine. We shall contribute to the public good by extending human life and improving health and quality of life.
