Vitreous enamel is a glass coating chemically bonded to steel at high temperatures around 850 degrees celsius. The undercoat is sprayed onto steel and fired in a Vitreous Enamelling furnace to form a permanent bond with the steel base.

The coating imparts additional properties to the base metal, some of them are:

1. Corrosion resistance.
2. Surface finish.
3. Use in high heat applications.
4. Electrical resistance.
