Kores tis Gis (Daughters of the Earth)

The flavourful and aromatic characteristics of tuber melanosporum, as well as the rarity of, led us in 2010, after years of research to find a suitable location with the necessary soil and climatic characteristics, to create a biological plantation in the beautiful and hospitable Grevena Prefecture. A prefecture which is famous for the quality of its mushrooms. Our plantation is one of the largest in the whole of Greece, covering a 5 hectares area. A perfectly protected and watered forest at an altitude of 700 meters, consisting of 3000 vaccinated and certified oak trees, ostryas and Hazel, with an installed remote monitoring system and weather station for recording all the required parameters (temperature, air humidity, soil moisture, etc.). Tuber Melanosporum is considered the jewel of gastronomy because of its particular flavor and aroma. It was known from antiquity since it constituted a valuable delicacy at banquets of Pharaoh (2600 BC). Its dimensions range from size of a nut up to the fist of a man. The shape is rounded or like a lobe. The aroma is intense, pleasant and characteristic, which according to researchers is a synthesis of many aromatic substances that reach the number of 80.
