Izumi Products Company, its headquarter in Matsumoto, Nagano, JAPAN, has been in existence since 1939. In its inception, the company began as an industrial precision tool manufacture of specialized hydraulic equipment and tools. And throughout its 71 year history, Izumi has gained a world wide reputation as a leader in this highly specialized industry.
In 1956, Izumi expanded its production facilities to manufacture blades of electric shavers for domestic OEM manufactures. And three years later in 1959, Izumi started production of its own branded battery shaver for Japanese market.
In 1965, Izumi began manufacturing electric hair dryers for Japanese market. In the two years that followed, electric shavers and hot combs were exported on an OEM arrangement to the U.S.A..
Exporting its personal care electric appliances began in earnest during the mid-seventies with the sales of men's rotary shavers, hair dryers and curling irons to Sears Roebuck and Co.. And it wasn't long after its initial business with Sears that Izumi began to expand its overseas business opportunities by selling their electric appliances to many reputable established OEM's in the U.S.A.. In fact, during this time, Izumi was the largest manufacturer of hair dryers and curling irons in the world.
The eighties were equally exciting: business flourished; new innovative products were introduced; A part of production facilities for shavers and electroforming machinery were moved to China; production of electric shavers and hair clippers began in Hong Kong, and additional domestic sales offices opened in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Matsumoto to support the increase in sales volume.
And today, in the 21st Century, Izumi is poised and strategically positioned to meet the demands, challenges and countless opportunities in the year's ahead.
