Eco Tech was conceived and founded by Purushottam Prakash, a Handloom Technocrat. A graduate from Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Varanasi, Purushottam has spent the last 10 years working with diverse artisan and craft communities of Uttrakhand & Bihar. He recognized the pressing need for new grass root models which includes providing necessary training, markets and funding access for these communities in order to make them vibrant for producing niche products. In 2006, Intensive capacity building and design skills up gradation were provided to the artisans, with an emphasis on re-positioning their traditional skills through design-led product development as per the current trend and fashion. The pilot effort culminated in the launch of Eco Tech as a dynamic Brand Bihar (a indigenous brand) with 5 categories of products - Eco Tech Women, Eco Tech Men, Eco Tech Home and Eco Tech Craft all of which are handmade combined traditional artisan techniques with contemporary design. Over the period of time, the traditionally crafted products have been accepted at national and international markets, with huge demands from all sorts of buyers including intermediaries. The efforts of Purshottam have been acknowledged by all art lovers across the society and have given a boost to the young entrepreneur.
