Company Introduction

Cardia Bioplastics is a global developer, manufacturer and marketer of sustainable resin derived from renewable resources. Our Biohybrid and compostable resin delivers packaging and plastic products with a lower carbon footprint.

Mission
Our mission is to be the international leader in the supply of technically advanced sustainable resin made from renewable resources.

History
Established in 2002 as Biograde Limited, we have expanded rapidly to become Cardia Bioplastics, a global business with headquarters and Global Applications Development Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Our Product Development Centre and manufacturing plant is located in Nanjing, named Biograde (Nanjing) Pty Limited.

We also have offices in Europe and America, and a network of leading distributors across Australia, America, Europe and Asia. Our key people are skilled plastic industry leaders who widely recognized for their sustainable resin expertise.

Growth for our business is fuelled by the global trend towards sustainable packaging. We hold a strong patent portfolio and a track record for creating innovative products based on our proprietary technology.

As Biograde, we were the exclusive supplier of biodegradable packaging to the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, were awarded as "Australia - China Excellence Business Unit" by Australian Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and won the "Clean Equity Monaco Conference Award for Excellence" in 2009 in the field of Environmental Technology Commercialization.

Future
Plastics have been made from finite resources, chiefly oil. The growth of the market for sustainable resin derived from renewable resources is driven by society's recognition that change is required, because:

Oil is a finite resource - some say we are now facing the "peak in oil supply"
Packaging and disposable products are short-term use items - they create waste disposal and litter issues
Governments around the world are addressing these issues with legislative restrictions and taxes to encourage recycling, composting and the use of sustainable and renewable materials
Major brand owners and retailers want sustainable solutions to gain a competitive edge
