Company Introduction
Letter of Introduction.
The Reader:
B-earth Paints was established in 2002 by its founding members Prof. Alan Brent and Willem Cronje. The main aim of the company was to research and develop a sustainable environmental conscience coating system that will enhance structures durability and lower energy consumption and carbon emissions.
International tests were conducted by the PRA, Paint Research Authority (UK), CETEC (Aus), CSIRO (AUS), University of New South Wales (Aus) and the results proved that the coatings do adhere to International Green Building Council Regulations. In South Africa the coatings were tested by the CSIR and do comply with the SABS Specifications and the Green Building Council Regulations.
The need for this product was already manifesting in developed countries. Through research the Australian market seemed to be a good choice as a starting point for exports and the first exports was done in 2004. Here the product was successfully used on Bondi Beach Iceberg Tidal pool, Bondi Beach Skate Bowl, Brisbane Airport and many more residential and commercial projects.
Locally residential and commercial applications were dominant. Problematic conditions were high temperatures 40 C and higher with 100 % humidity were experienced at the Serena Crocodile Farm in Hazyview, Mpumalanga. Here the coatings proved itself with a lifespan of 7 years plus and still continuing.
B-earth do not only manufacture architectural paints but also industrial quality sealers, varnishes, rubberizers, floor and road paints and rust protecting coatings and many more. Niche markets were accommodated by insulating coatings, fire retardants, thatch protectors, glow in the dark safety paints and many more.
We believe in strong ethical values, a culture of quality control and supplying solutions more than just selling paints. Currently these factors are paying dividends with markets opening in Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia and internationally in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia. Locally we have manufacturing facilities in Cape Town, Nelspruit and Pretoria with distribution points in KZN and Mpumalanga.
Our vision is to expand our products internationally and to ensure that the negative connotation to paints and the harmful effect of it to the environment and its occupants are reduced.
The corporation currently have a manufacturing and research facility at 8 Dewar Street, Wolmaranspoort, Pretoria, Gauteng in South Africa.
Currently there are no mayor competitors regarding sustainability of the product, life cycle, non-toxicity and VOC qualities. The product as a whole is not experiencing any competition but single or some aspects would be addressed by other manufacturers. For instance other coatings may be low in VOC s but not durable and others might be lasting but full of toxins. In the last three years we opened new manufacturing facilities as joint ventures in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga and in Cape Town in the Western Cape. Currently we are exploring the possibilities to open up shops and depots in Windhoek Namibia, Maputo Mozambique and London in the UK.
On the research and development side we have developed insulating coatings, photo luminescence paints, improved most paints, removed and replaced chemicals that might pose possible future negative reactions and revisited administrative and logistical components.
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce us to our product.
The B-earth Team.
