History Kay’s Chemist was established in 1938 as the parent company in Delhi India before Pakistan was established. Mr. Islam Khawaja son of (Late) Doctor Khawaja Rahim Uddin was the founder of this company. Mr. Islam himself was a pharmacist and Doctor Khawaja Mohammad Rahim Uddin was also expert in the usage of natural herbs. Mohammad Islam Khawaja took his basic training from his father and acquired diploma in pharmacy from Delhi. Kay’s Chemist initiated its business operation since 1948 in Pakistan. Initially Pharmaceutical products were manufactured and distributed across the nation. In 1950 Kay’s Chemist was acknowledged as renowned Pharmaceutical company nationwide. Hakim Khawaja Abdul Salam, brother of Mohammad Islam Khawaja was also big support as pharmacist. In 1968, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Khawaja joined the company from Kay’s & Sums family as the third generation. He started giving his input in the different departments of this company built by his fore fathers, and later on he had proved that he was great assistance and support to his father and paternal uncle Hakim Khawaja Abdul Salam. Mohammad Iqbal Khawaja is more interested in Research & Development department where he worked for different products. Mr. Iqbal Khawja develops his interest in dermatological products in 1970. His passion for cosmetology was enhanced and he went to Great Britain in order to acquired respective knowledge. U.K is enriched source of providing knowledge about cosmetology. After completion of advance education he returned to Pakistan and started manufacturing and developing certain cosmetics which are favorable according to the geographical condition, skin texture and demographic condition of Pakistan. He has selected specific base material such as Hydrophilic and Lipophilic ingredients in a certain ratio along with Herbal medicines for the betterment of Pakistanis. According to his specialization and flair he has established “Kay’s Institute of Research & Development (KIRD)” & “Beauty Biz Institute of Cosmetic Sciences (BBCS)”. “KIRD” is established for research and “BBCS” is developed in order to understand how to make better use of newly researched and developed product, teach Cosmetology and show practical demonstration respectively. In 1992, Mr. Iqbal Khawaja became Chairman (C.E.O) of Kay’s Group of Companies. In his supervision and leader ship, Kay’s Group started its export unit in 2002 at Karachi Export Processing Zone.
