Major Research Achievements by Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences

Beginning to study the technology since 1992 on the comprehensive utilization of pineapple leaves, the Agro-machinery Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences has undertaken five special scientific and technological projects assigned by the Ministry of Agriculture one after another and the scientific and technological cooperation projects between Chinese and Philippine governments, completed the research on the mechanical extraction technology of pineapple leaf fiber and its related equipment, pineapple fiber spinnability and its post-treatment technology and the technology of how to produce feed, energy, and fertilizer from its leaf residues, successfully developed such new textile materials as pineapple linen strips, linen hairs and fabrics, socks, T-shirts, shirts and so on, and obtained three province-level and ministry-level scientific achievements and four SIPO patents.
