Established in 1969, Tongsuh Petrochemical Corp., Ltd. became Korea' s first company to produce acrylonitrile (AN). Tongsuh has contributed greatly to the development of Korea' s petrochemical industry and the current annual production capacity is 56million tons, that is the largest plant in the world.

Tongsuh petrochemical also produces related derivatives and co-products such as sodium cyanide, EDTA, acrylamide, and acetonitrile, thus maximizing the efficiency in value-addition from AN production. In 1998, Tongsuh petrochemical Corp., Ltd. became a member of the Asahi-Kasei Group, one of Japan' s largest companies.
