Company Introduction
Jin-ju, an ancient city with a history spanning 1000 years, has been a silk Mecca since 1910 due to its many natural qualities and its talented workforce.
It has an ideal soil and climate for the growth of the silk-producing mulberry tree as well as superb water from the Nam river, essential for proper dyeing. Jin-ju has gained an international reputation for high-quality silk products as well as the honor of being home to more than 80% of Korea's silk products. This is comparable to Japan's Kyoto, China's Suzhou, and Italy's Como.
The Namkang Textile Company has strived to improve the development of its silk products from its inception in 1948. The late Jae-sung Yu, the founder of the company, originally produced silk fabrics used in many products on the domestic market. During the 1970s we began exporting fabrics used in Japanese kimonos and American neckties. We also focused on producing almost exclusively the traditional Korean clothing known as the Hanbok.
The Namkang Textile Company has 60 Jacquard looms and we can produce about 600,000 yards of silk fabric in a year.
As the 21st century has expanded, so has our product line. We now produce not only for the domestic market but we also export our fine silk fabrics to countries all over the world including the USA and Japan.
