MAPECON Green Charcoal Philippines, Inc. (MGCPI) is a fully owned subsidiary of MAPECON Philippines, Inc. the leading pest control company in the country. Founded in 1961 by Filipino Inventor Gonzalo O. Catan, Jr., an agriculturist graduate major in Entomology from the University of the Philippines, Los Banos. Jun Catan as he is popularly known, developed only botanical pest control products. He then invented and developed a "green charcoal" technology in an Activated Carbon plant he acquired in the mid 80's and established MGCPI in 1989. Today the plant in Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines not only produces activated carbon from coconut shells but also the green charcoal and 100% vermicast, both proprietary and with patents pending.
